The Christmas Eve Sleeve

It's just possible that you may have a copy of this Little Sister / 10,000 Things bootleg?

 It has four tracks:

Little Sister's Politician and The Ride, recorded live at The Royal Park Cellars on Will's 21st birthday and 10,000 Things' studio recordings, (pre Will and Stobb), of  One Thing and Titanium Boxer Shorts.

Several members of the final line-up of 10,000 Things were "students" at Leeds College of Music, but all dropped out, which is surely indicative of something! Will was on the Jazz Guitar course for one year and from the front of the CD sleeve you might safely infer an indication of Will's growing cynicism.  ("yr 21" is an indication that he's studied the blues all his life, but he obviously felt that "discuss" was never going to happen at LCM).

His chosen tutor, Chester Burnett, is better known as Howlin' Wolf. No wonder that in 2002 Will was so keen to see Hubert Sumlin play in Leeds.

The quote here is from Jane's Addiction's Three Days. (The Things watched J.A at The Leeds Festival in 2002). (Dave Navarro and), the Red Hot Chili Peppers had been a frequent source of covers for Will's Lancashire-based bands.

The comments conclude with an extract from Wolf's Smokestack Lightning. Will would sometimes work that riff into the end of his version of Jimi Hendrix' Voodoo Chile, (Slight Return).

Note the faked date for the tutor's comments, (30yrs before Will's own birthday).

Howlin' Wolf, (Chester Burnett) was born 10/06/1910 in White Station, Mississippi and died 10/01/1976 in Chicago. He and his guitarist, Hubert Sumlin exerted an enormous influence on blues music world wide.
